Raemana was an enthusiastic assistant to her sister Raisah and would accompany her to the trainings often. She understands the importance of continuity of this program for these children living in Ambedkar Basti. Based on her long association and close interaction with the children, she got an insight about their family’s daily chores and limitations. She discovered that the Basti women had a desire to learn something beneficial and be able to earn a livelihood. After exploring many project plans that may help these women towards a sustainable income, Raemana narrowed down on project ‘VRDDHI’ to enable and empower these women.
‘VRDDHI’ a Sanskrit word signifies growth. The project aims at helping the women of Ambedkar Basti to build their capacity, acquire certain social skills, understand monetary saving and credits, and comprehend tailoring is a skill which can be a stepping stone towards livelihood. The project was launched on April 1st, 2023.
While children learn and play sports, their mother gets an opportunity to learn tailoring and social skills. Raemana says “ capacity building is a strong avenues for income generating activity, driving them towards self-reliance, whereby they not only stitch/mend clothes for their own family, also utilize it as a source of supplement income. Further, group interaction with peers enhances their confidence & creativity, which uplifts their happiness quotient. At Strive2.0 we believe in doing things differently and maximise impact”.
